Are you a romantic at heart?
The most wonderful places in the world to visit are even better when shared with the one you love. If you are dreaming of a way to celebrate your upcoming honeymoon or anniversary or just want a romantic getaway have a look at some of the magnificent yachts that cater to just one special couple. There’s something about the warmth of the sun and sand and the sparkling water that paints the perfect stage for passionate interludes. Think of sailing to secluded beaches, lingering over a gourmet picnic prepared by your personal chef, gazing at the star studded sky while lying on deck, snorkeling hand in hand through coral reefs, or dancing barefoot in the sand. Sailing is the theme of thousands of lovesongs and poems for good reason - there is no better setting for romance. Barometer: Highlights of an Island Bar
The Soggy Dollar Bar
No trip to the British Virgin Islands is complete without a stop at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke to experience the Soggy Dollar Bar. This lively little beach bar is named for the wet money of patrons who swim ashore for refreshments. Home and creator of the painkiller, a creamy orange, pineapple, coconut, and rum drink sprinkled with nutmeg is sure to cure what ails you. There are lots of unique games and challenging puzzles scattered around. Be sure to try your hand at the metal heart puzzle or the ring toss hanging from a coconut tree but remember, your chances of success are better before the painkillers. The theme at this bar is pure relaxation, kick back in one of the many large hammocks or wade in the crystal clear water. Worries melt in the sun here. While your captain will gladly dinghy you to shore high and dry you can always swim in to make sure you have some soggy dollars. Blink and You'll Miss Sandy Spit
Although the word paradise has many different definitions. A single picture of Sandy Spit in the dictionary would be a sufficient description. A visit to this speck of an island is much more than just a vocabulary lesson though. This mound of sand the size of a tennis court rises from the sea with a lone palm tree and a few scattered sea-grape bushes. Just try sinking into the baby powder soft sand surrounded by idyllic azure water; inspiring thoughts and ideas are sure to follow. Feel the warmth of the sun intermingled with the refreshing trade-winds and suddenly the denotation of utopia surrounds you.
Business people often speak of deals made on golf courses. Imagine entertaining your clients on a private yacht and working out the details on this miniature island… a different type of sand trap entirely!
Sandy Spit is a must see if you charter a yacht whether you would like to pretend to be a castaway on a deserted island or just marvel in awe at the postcard perfection. It is located between Little Jost Van Dyke and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Featured Yacht: Exbury II
If you would like to charter a yacht and it’s just the two of you, consider the yacht Exbury II. This 55 foot sloop is owned and operated by Albert and Josy, a delightful Belgian couple. The Iguana
How can some species be so ugly and yet so beautiful at the same time? Yes that’s right, I would call Iguanas beautiful. It may be their resemblance to prehistoric dinosaurs that makes them alluring. Or perhaps it is the way they awkwardly strut and then suddenly scurry with ease. Whatever the reason I think that Iguanas are fascinating creatures to observe and study.
These creatures can be found throughout the Caribbean sunning themselves on rocks or perched high up in trees. If frightened they can effortlessly drop 20-30 feet and hit the ground running. They can also swim but will usually only go into the water if they are startled. They can grow to be almost 7 feet long (mostly tail) and have long claws perfect for climbing up trees.
They may look ferocious but they won't bite. However some of the island dogs have been taught a lesson from an Iguana's tail. Their diet consists mainly of plants and leaves with the occasionally mealworm or insect. Select another page || Go to Home Page
